New ‘Finding Nemo’-Themed Attraction Coming to Tokyo DisneySea in 2017

The Oriental Land Company and Disney have announced a new Finding Nemo attraction is coming to Tokyo DisneySea in 2017.
The new attraction will be based on the Disney/Pixar hit Finding Nemo and its 2016 sequel Finding Dory.
On the attraction guests will board a submarine that “shrinks” to fish size. The ride will use a system that blends visuals from the films with motion.
The attraction is an underwater experience that will allow guests to view the ocean floor just like Nemo and friends do. Characters from both films will also be …

Disney Announces D23 Expo Japan 2015 to Take Place in November at Tokyo Disney Resort

The Walt Disney Company has announced that the D23 Expo Japan 2015 is scheduled for November 6-8 at the Tokyo Disney Resort.
The Expo debuted in Japan in 2013 to much fanfare.
This year’s Expo will focus on the “power of the story” and will bring together the worlds of Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel. Events include panels, presentations, and exhibits.
The Walt Disney Archives will have a special exhibit focusing on Disney Princesses. The exhibit will include costumes, artwork, vintage collectibles, and film props.

Tokyo Disney Resort to Undergo a 10-Year Expansion Beginning in 2015

Starting next spring the Tokyo Disney Resort will begin a 10-year expansion of both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo Disney Sea.
The announcement of the expansion was made by the Oriental Land Company as part of their 500 billion yen investment in the theme parks.
The project includes a new and expanded Fantasyland at Tokyo Disneyland, nearly doubling the size of the theme park. New attractions, restaurants, and shops are also planned for the park.

New Disney Ambassadors Welcomed for Disneyland Resort and the Walt Disney World Resort

The Disney Ambassador Program is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and recently the new Disney Parks Ambassadors were announced.
The first Disney Ambassador was Julie Reihm Casaletto, who was a tour guide at Disneyland when Walt Disney picked her to act as a representative for the theme park. The ambassador program was launched during the 10th anniversary of Disneyland.
This week Julie and more than 50 other Disney Ambassadors were present during a ceremony at Sleeping Beauty Castle where the 2015-16 Disneyland Resort Ambassador team was announced.

‘Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Fantasy’ Set to Debut in January 2015 at Tokyo Disneyland Park

The Frozen phenomenon shows no signs of stopping.
Disney recently announced that an all-new Frozen special event is debuting in January 2015 at the Tokyo Disneyland Park.
Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Fantasy is scheduled to run from January 13 through March 20, 2015. The special event is themed after Disney’s mega-hit animated film Frozen and will give fans a chance to see the “world of ice and snow created by Elsa’s magical power.”

Oswald the Lucky Rabbit Debuts at Tokyo Disney Resort

Walt Disney’s first animated star – Oswald the Lucky Rabbit – has found a new home at Tokyo Disney Resort.
As the story goes, throughout the years this Lucky Rabbit has traveled the world and held many different job titles including trolley conductor and lifeguard.
But now, Oswald has arrived at Tokyo DisneySea where he’s playing the role of a farmer in the Cape Cod section of the American Waterfront. He is greeting guests at his produce stand that is stocked with eggs and flowers for the season.

Global Sing-Along Planned for Celebration of 50th Anniversary of ‘it’s a small world’

The iconic Disney Parks attraction ‘it’s a small world’ is celebrating its 50th anniversary this spring with a global sing-along.
On April 10 guests and cast members from the Disney Parks around the world will unite to sing the theme song from the attraction. Participating parks include Disneyland Resort in California, Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, Tokyo Disney Resort, Disneyland Paris, and Hong Kong Disneyland.

Walt Disney Japan and Partners Collaborate to Create a Very Disney Holiday in Japan

Walt Disney Japan and a couple of partners have collaborated to give Disney fans and citizens in Japan the chance to experience a magical holiday season.
Working with Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd., and Mitsubishi Estate Building Management, Disney Japan produced Happiness Town Projects that featured Disney-themed building takeover at the Yokohama Landmark Tower and in Tokyo’s Marunouchi business district.
The project was named Bright Christmas 2013 and runs through Christmas Day in Tokyo.

Highlights from the First D23 Expo Japan Include Sneak Peek of Shanghai Disneyland’s Castle and More

Earlier this month more than 23,000 Disney fans gathered at the Tokyo Disney Resort for the first D23 Expo Japan.
The expo was opened by Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger who highlighted some of the company’s upcoming projects. Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Tom Staggs gave expo attendees a sneak peek of what’s coming for Disney Parks around the world including a glimpse of the castle for Shanghai Disneyland and the Iron Man attraction headed to Hong Kong Disneyland.

A Renovated Star Tours Opens at Tokyo Disneyland

As the celebration of Tokyo Disney Resort’s 30th anniversary continues, a renovated Star Tours: The Adventures Continue opened at the park earlier this month. The new ride is an updated version of the original ride that opened at the park in 1989.
The virtual reality-based attraction features Star Wars characters and destinations in 3D, and includes more than 50 story combinations that are produced through random selection of scenarios.
