‘Toy Story 3′ Writer Michael Arndt to Pen Script for ‘Phineas and Ferb’ Feature Film

Fans of the hit Disney Channel show Phineas and Ferb will soon be able to see their favorite characters on the big screen. Phineas and Ferb will be coming to theaters in a new feature film in the summer of 2013, and it looks like Disney is truly trying to make this movie a big summer hit.

‘Cars’ Merchandise is Expected to top ‘Toy Story’, Become Largest Film Licensing Property

In anticipation of the film’s June 24 release, Disney/Pixar has been releasing merchandise for Cars 2 since mid-May. There’s a good chance you’ve probably seen some of it by now, whether in Disney Stores around the country, or even aprons and mini cake-baking pans available at Williams-Sonoma stores. Indeed, this merchandise is so prevalent, Disney recently disclosed that Cars 2 merchandise is on track to beat sales from last summer’s mega-hit Toy Story 3, which took in over $2.4 billion in retail sales in 2011.

‘Toy Story 3′ Director Auctions Pixar Collectibles to Help Japanese Earthquake Relief

Lee Unkrich, director of Toy Story 3 has put up a number of Pixar collectibles on eBay to help with the Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund. The items up for auction are quite varied, but are all Pixar-related memorabilia he has collected over the years.
One particular piece, such as this limited edition print from Disney/Pixar’s Up, is currently up for auction. The print, which was given to Pixar employees after the film was made, only had 1200 copies ever created. This particular print is from Unkrich’s own personal collection.

Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival to Celebrate Pixar’s 25th Anniversary

We have some exciting news for Pixar fans today – the 18th Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival will be honoring Pixar during Pixar’s 25th Anniversary Weekend May 13-15!
Plenty of fun and activities celebrating Pixar will be at Epcot next month, including an appearance from Mater, co-star of Disney/Pixar’s Cars and Cars 2. Guests will have the chance to participate in special meet and greets, kids activities, and discussions by Pixar filmmakers and other employees.

‘Cars 2: The Video Game’ to Go 3D on the Sony Playstation 3

Cars 2: The Video Game will mark the first game from Disney Interactive Studios that supports Sony’s Playstation 3 3D technology. The Disney game will also be available in 2D on PC/Mac, Nintendo DS, Xbox 360 and the Wii.
John Blackburn, vice president and general manager of Avalanche Software, who developed the game, said that “the advancement of 3D technology will allow us to immerse the player into the Cars 2 game environment in a whole new way.” He also noted that with the new 3D effects, players will be able …

New Details Emerge about Disney Pixar’s ‘Brave’

New concept art from Disney Pixar’s upcoming “Brave” was posted at Entertainment Weekly online earlier this week, and gives fans an eyeful of the amazing scenes we can expect to see when the feature arrives June 22, 2012. In addition to the artwork, EW’s piece also mentioned several more details about the film, including the fact that Reese Witherspoon won’t be voicing the lead character Princess Merida. Due to scheduling issues, Witherspoon was replaced with Scottish actress Kelly Macdonald.

‘Toy Story 3′ Director Lee Unkrich to be Honored with Prestigious Award

Director Lee Unkrich , noted Pixar creative force who is most recently known for his work on the blockbuster “Toy Story 3,” will soon add another award to his trophy case, as the University of Southern California graduate has been named the recipient of this year’s Mary Pickford Alumni Award.

The award, which recognizes alumni contributions to the cinematic arts, will be presented to Unkrich at the graduation ceremony for USC’s School of the Cinematic Arts.  The ceremony will be held May 13 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

Lotso the Bear and Other Final Topiaries Installed at Epcot’s Flower & Garden Festival

If you are a topiary junkie like I am, then you will be over the moon to know that Lotso, that strawberry-scented “Toy Story 3″ bad guy has arrived at Epcot!
The massive topiary was installed to welcome guests to the 18th Annual Flower and Garden Festival.  He now stands proudly, waving with his good-natured (and oh so deceptive) happy grin to bid a happy hello to visitors, from the large bed at the front of the park, which serves as the gateway to Futureworld.

Disney Films Win Four Oscars

At last night’s star-studded 83rd Annual Academy Awards ceremony, films affiliated with Disney took home four honors out of the thirteen nominations they had received.
Disney Pixar’s “Toy Story 3″ won two Oscars, for Best Animated Feature Film and Best Original Song for Randy Newman’s “We Belong Together.”  Tim Burton’s live action “Alice in Wonderland” also triumphed in two categories:  Art Direction and Costume Design.
