Disney and Netfilx Reach Agreement on Disney Junior and Disney XD Shows

After reaching an agreement with Disney/ABC Television, Netflix is set to begin offering popular shows from Disney Junior and Disney XD. This agreement makes Netflix the only subscription streaming service with rights to these programs.
The shows that will be offered by Netflix in the multiyear agreement include Jake and the Never Land Pirates, Handy Manny, Special Agent Oso, JoJo’s Circus, and the animated series Tron: Uprising.

The Oscars are still a few weeks away, but this weekend, this year’s animated films were given a chance to shine at the 40th Annual Annie Awards. Disney films took home many of the top awards this year, including the top prizes of Best Animated Feature and Animated Short Subject.

Disney XD Show ‘Tron: Uprising’ Canceled

According to a media report, Disney XD’s cult favorite Tron: Uprising has been canceled. It will not return for a second season.
The news comes hot on the heels of the anticipated release of the Tron: Uprising soundtrack, which became available online January 8. Fans are curious as to why Disney would hype the show this way, and then cancel the series. Despite its small fan base, Tron: Uprising had many positive reviews and was nominated for numerous awards, leading many to believe the network would opt to continue the series.

Walt Disney Records to Release ‘Tron: Uprising’ Soundtrack

On January 8, Walt Disney Studios will be releasing the soundtrack for the hit Disney XD show Tron: Uprising. The soundtrack will only be available in digital format.
The soundtrack will include the original score from series’ composer Joseph Trapanese, as well as several remixes from popular artists 3OH!3, Opiuo, and David Hiller. Additionally, a brand-new track called “Rezolution” from 16 year old rising star Cole Plante will be featured.

Disney Channel fans heading to San Diego Comic-Con International this summer are in for a treat, as Disney Channel and Disney XD recently announced some exciting panels they will be holding at the annual convention. Catch a Sneak Peek of Disney XD’s TRON: Uprising

This June, Disney XD will debut a new series TRON: Uprising, which takes place between the original 1980’s TRON movie and the 2010 sequel TRON: Legacy.
The series will follow main character Beck, who begins a revolution to protect his world and his family from the evil Clu and General Tesler. Beck, fortunately, was trained by the top warrior in his universe – Tron.
All all-star voice cast includes Elijah Wood, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Mandy Moore, Nate Corddry, Lance Henriksen, Paul Reubens and Bruce Boxleitner reprising his original role of Tron.

This year’s Comic-Con 2011 brought the release of the newest trailer for the upcoming Disney XD series Tron: Uprising. David DiGilio to Write Screenplay for ‘Tron: Legacy’ Sequel

Disney has hired David DiGilio to pen the sequel to a sequel, as the writer will create the next installment in the Tron series.
While the sci-fi thriller opened to a less than stellar response, earning only $44 million in the first weekend of its release, it managed to pull in $400 million worldwide during its theatrical run, and additional revenue with sales of DVDs and Blu rays.
