Disney VoluntEARS Give Back to Communities Around the World

Disney VoluntEARS have been hard at work on projects and events around the world.
In Argentina the VoluntEARS were joined by children at Garrahan Hospital for a screening of the film Violetta in Concert. This special event was part of a program that bring Disney theatrical releases into children’s hospitals.
On the other side of the world, the Disney English Academic Training Team was honored as the 2014 Disney VoluntEARS Team of the Year in China for their contributions to the Rainbow Bridge Project.

Disney VoluntEARS Build a new Playground for Kids in Central Florida

Disney VoluntEARS recently spent a weekend afternoon building a new playground in the town of Oakland, Florida, providing a safe place to play for the town’s children.
The 125 Disney VoluntEARS worked alongside a KaBOOM! construction crew and representatives from the Town of Oakland and the Oakland Nature Preserve to build the playground.
In less than six hours the volunteer crews placed 48,600 square feet of safety surface and assembled the playground equipment.

Disney VoluntEARS Spread Holiday Cheer with 36,000 Toys for Kids in Central Florida

The Walt Disney World Resort and its cast members are working hard to make the holidays a little more magical for families in Central Florida.
The cast member VoluntEARS have collected and donated more than 36,000 new toys to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots to benefit kids in Orange and Seminole counties.
VoluntEARS have also given more than 6,000 hours helping the Marines register families for the annual giving campaign, in addition to sorting and packing the toys.

Walt Disney World VoluntEARS Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month in Central Florida Classrooms

As part of the Hispanic Heritage Month celebration, Disney VoluntEARS are helping kids in central Florida learn more about Hispanic culture with the aid of a new bilingual book.
The book – Rubia and the Three Osos – is written in English with some Spanish words and is the retelling of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Disney cast members are reading the book in classroom and learning centers around central Florida.

Disney VoluntEARS Help Communities in China and Hong Kong

For the last three decades, Disney’s VoluntEARS have been giving their time to benefit local communities, and recently a group of VoluntEARS joined Habitat for Humanity in China as part of a five-day house building project.
The project took place in rural China in the Rongshui County in Guangxi and the team built houses and helped the village install a new drainage system. They also visited the local schools to give books to the local children.

Celebrate 30 Years of Disney VoluntEARS with Disney Citizenship at the D23 Expo

This year marks the 30th Anniversary of the Disney VoluntEARS program and as part of the year-long celebration Disney Citizenship is inviting fans and their families to become honorary VoluntEARS at the D23 Expo next month.

These honorary VoluntEARS will be working with Disney employees and nonprofits including Feeding America, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, Inside the Outdoors, First Book, and some local Boys & Girls Clubs on different service projects.

Walt Disney World Cast Member VoluntEARS Build New Playground

Last weekend a group of Walt Disney World Cast Member VoluntEARS came together with other community partners to build a new KaBOOM! playground in Clermont, Florida. The project was part of the ongoing 30th anniversary celebration of the Disney VoluntEARS program.

Minnie’s Moonlit Madness and a Day at the Beach Community Outreach Events

Disney cast members presented the Orange County’s Pacific Symphony with a check for $5,000. The money was raised during an annual cast-member charity event called Minnie’s Moonlit Madness.
A cast member favorite, Minnie’s Moonlit Madness is a trivia-game-cum-scavenger-hunt in Disneyland where teams of four must complete a list of 10 assignments before midnight. The catch: all teams of four are tied together with rope! This year, 350 teams from all over the Walt Disney Company – including a team from Aulani – participated in the “Soundsational”-themed charity event, raising $5,000 …

Disney VoluntEARS Participate in Worldwide Coastal Cleanups

This fall, Disney VoluntEARS are working to protect wildlife and marine ecosystems with coastal cleanups across the globe. Thus far, cleanups have taken place in Hong Kong and Los Angeles.
The Hong Kong cleanup took place as part of 2012’s Hong Kong International Coastal Cleanup initiative, which is held September 15 to November 4. Over 100 Disney VoluntEARS participated in the event.
More recently, VoluntEARS and community members from Los Angeles collaborated with Heal the Bay to collect more than 36 pounds of trash along the coast of Will Rogers State Beach. …

Disney VoluntEARS Make Tamales for Community Organization

Last week, Disney VoluntEARS took park in the Latino Health Access (LHA) Tamalada event, which was the event that actually served to kick-start the LHA.
For the last 18 years, their motto has been “We will have a healthier community, even if we have to sell tamales.” And they’ve done just that!
3,500 tamales were sold during the event, with proceeds going towards the LHA’s diabetes management program and potentially life-saving related eye surgeries. The tamales are not made with lard, and ingredients are used to ensure the tamales have reduced fat …
