On December 15, Disney Parks around the world will celebrate Walt Disney on the 50th anniversary of his death.
‘Walt Week: Celebrating a Legacy of Imagination, Creativity, and Innovation’ is a collaboration between D23: The Official Disney Fan Club and Disney Parks.

D23 Gold Members Can Explore Chicago and Walt Disney’s Birthplace in Exclusive Tour

D23 Gold members and their families have a chance to explore Chicago, Illinois and visit sites of importance to the early life of Walt Disney.
The exclusive D23 Gold member experience is March 4, 2016 and begins following The Walt Disney Company 2016 Annual Meeting of Shareholders.

D23 gold members who renew or start a new membership between now and December 31, 2016 will receive a member gift that was inspired by the restoration of Walt Disney’s office at the Studios’ Burbank lot.

Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival Opens at Epcot

The new Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival is now open at Epcot’s Magic Eye Theater.
The short film festival features three animated shorts. Guests will have a chance to look into the “visionary minds” behind the films.

D23 Gold Members Can Take a Behind-the-Scenes Tour of Walt Disney’s Office

D23: The Official Disney Fan Club is giving its gold members a chance to be some of the first to tour the recently refurbished office of Walt Disney in Burbank, CA.
This tour will be the first D23 tour group to visit Walt’s newly restored office at The Walt Disney Studios lot. The event also includes a special presentation by the Disney Photo Library team and a three-course meal at the Tam O’Shanter.

Walt Disney’s Office Restored as Permanent Exhibit Space on the Walt Disney Studios’ Lot

Walt Disney’s office suite at the Walt Disney Studios lot in Burbank has been restored as a permanent exhibit space.
The restoration recreates Walt’s formal and working offices and includes original furniture, collections of his miniatures, awards, and even his piano. The office – 3H – was restored by the Walt Disney Archives staff and will be used as an “immersive exhibit experience” for employees and studio guests.

First Items from New Twenty-Eight & Main Collection to Debut August 28

The first items from the new Twenty-Eight & Main collection will debut on the Disney Parks online store on August 28 through September 3.
The items for sale include three T-shirts along with three wooden signs featuring similar graphics.
One of the T-shirts is a knit, short-sleeve shirt inspired by Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress. The shirt features the lion from the Disney Parks castles’ coat of arms. Another T-shirt features artwork inspired by The Florida Project.

Special Military Performances Planned at Disneyland for Fourth of July Weekend

Guests at Disneyland Resort celebrating the Fourth of July have a chance to enjoy some special military performances starting July 2.
This tradition of inviting the military to perform at Disneyland was started by Walt Disney on the park’s opening day.
The United States Air Force Honor Guard from Washington, D.C. will be performing from July 2-5 at Disneyland Park. The show times are 3:15 p.m. at Sleeping Beauty Castle and 4:05 p.m. just before Mickey’s Soundsational Parade.

Disneyland’s Diamond Celebration to Feature New Nighttime Shows  and a Glistening Sleeping Beauty Castle

Disneyland Resort is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year with a Diamond Celebration that includes three new nighttime shows and more.
The Diamond Celebration starts May 22 and both Sleeping Beauty and Carthay Circle Theater will be adorned with diamond medallions. The Disneyland Resort and the streets surrounding the resort will be decorated with Diamond Celebration décor and banners in Disneyland blue.

Carousel of Progress Celebrates 40th Anniversary this Week at the Magic Kingdom

This week marks the 40th anniversary of the Carousel of Progress at the Magic Kingdom.
The attraction is a fan favorite and features that earworm of a theme song, “There’s a Great, Big Beautiful Tomorrow.”
The Carousel of Progress was originally sponsored by General Electric when the ride opened in 1975 at the Magic Kingdom and featured the theme song “The Best Time of Your Life.” This was a change from the attraction’s original theme song.
