Disney Parks Donates $2 Million to Make-A-Wish After #ShareYourEars Campaign Success

After the success of the #ShareYourEars campaign, Disney Parks announced that it increased its original $1 million donation to Make-A-Wish to $2 million.
For the #ShareYourEars campaign fans were encouraged to share images of themselves wearing Mickey ears and use the hashtag for the campaign when the photos were shared on social media.
For each #ShareYourEars hashtag, a donation from the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts was unlocked until the total reached $1 million.

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Panel at D23 Expo Gave Fans a Peek into What is Coming to the Disney Parks

This year’s D23 Expo was full of surprises and big announcements including the addition of Star Wars Lands at both Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort, but there’s more than just Star Wars in the works.

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts will Celebrate 60 Years of Innovation at D23 Expo

Guests at this year’s D23 Expo have a chance to get a glimpse into the new Shanghai Disney Resort in addition to a preview of the Avatar-themed project at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
The Walt Disney Parks and Resorts pavilion is a 12,500 square foot exhibit located in Hall C of the Anaheim Convention Center and it’s where the action is when it comes to Disney Parks and Resorts.

D23 Announces Expanded ‘Hall D23’ for 2015 D23 Expo

The 2015 D23 Expo takes place August 14-16 and a new 7,500-seat venue, Hall D23, has just been announced.
The new venue will host several of the largest events and presentations at the Expo including the Disney Legends Awards Ceremony and The Walt Disney Studios announcements.
The Disney Legends Awards Ceremony is scheduled for Friday, August 14 and will be hosted by Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger. The ceremony honors those who have made significant contributions to the Disney legacy.

Tom Staggs Named Chief Operating Officer of The Walt Disney Company

The Walt Disney Company has named Thomas Staggs as its Chief Operating Officer in a move that some see as positioning him to replace Bob Iger in 2018.
Staggs is the Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts where he oversees the strategy, operations, and creative development of the parks.
He will continue to lead the Parks and Resorts division as he assumes the role of COO immediately. A successor will likely be named soon to lead the Parks and Resorts division.

Meg Crofton Announces Plan to Retire in June 2015

Meg Crofton, the president of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts’ operation in the United States and France has announced that she is retiring as of June 1, 2015.
Crofton has worked for The Walt Disney Company for 35 years and is currently working at company headquarters in California. She has overseen park operations for the past three years.
Prior to her current role, Crofton was the president of the Walt Disney World Resort from 2006 until 2011. She was the fourth executive to lead the Walt Disney World Resort since it opened …

Disney Parks and Mylan Sign Strategic Alliance to Enhance Access to Epi-Pens at Theme Parks

Mylan Inc. and Walt Disney Parks and Resorts recently signed a multi-year strategic alliance to increase awareness of anaphylaxis, a life-threatening allergic reaction.
The agreement will include updated maps at the Disney theme parks and on the Disney Cruise Lien in addition to updated signs in the theme parks that highlight locations with EpiPen and EpiPen Jr auto injectors.
The EpiPen locations will open in the Disney theme parks before the end of 2014, and nurses trained to administer EpiPens will be at First Aid stations during park hours. The park maps …

Walt Disney Company Executive Who Led MyMagic+ Development Announces Plan to Leave Company

The Walt Disney Company executive who led the development of the MyMagic+ project has announced that he is leaving the company.
Nick Franklin is the executive vice president for next-generation experiences at Walt Disney Parks and Resorts and he’s leaving Disney in July. He has worked for the company since 1996.
Franklin was chosen by Disney in 2009 to lead the “NextGen” project which became the MyMagic+ technology project that includes the new FastPass+ reservation system and the MagicBand wristbands that Walt Disney World Resort guests are now using.

Shanghai Disney Resort Announces First Corporate Alliance and Details for the Garden of the Twelve Friends

As construction continues on the Shanghai Disney Resort, the first corporate alliance partner for the resort has been announced.
The alliance partner is the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), which is one of the most respected companies in China. The agreement between the park and the ICBC will result in a strong branded presence at the resort for the ICBC.

WestJet Unveils Custom-Painted Aircraft Featuring Sorcerer Mickey

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s Sorcerer Mickey on the tail of the “Magic Plane” from WestJet.
The plane was unveiled this week by WestJet, WestJet Vacations, and Walt Disney Parks and Resorts (Canada) and took its inaugural flight on December 3, flying from Calgary to Orlando.
The plane features Sorcerer Mickey on the tail with stars swirling around the fuselage and the wings plus images of the fireworks at Cinderella’s Castle. And according to WestJet, the images on the two sides of the aircraft are mirror images in all aspects …
