More Claims That Disney Denied Overtime Wages

On the tail of another wage suit in which Disney was ordered to pay over $400,000 in back wages, 36 financial analysts at Walt Disney Pictures have launched a lawsuit claiming denial of payment.
Unlike many wage suits, which are often started by blue-collar workers, this one is being put together by salaried analysts and contract researchers in the participations, royalties and residuals department at Walt Disney Pictures — these are the folks who make sure A-list stars get paid accurately by the studio.
The suit claims that the 36 were …

“Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” Stars Visit Disneyland

“Pirates of the Caribbean” is the classic swashbuckling attraction that inspired the wildly popular trilogy of “Pirates of the Caribbean” films; internationally recognized characters like “Captain Jack Sparrow,” played by Johnny Depp, have helped to skyrocket a pop culture craze over the franchise. Enhancements were made to the Pirates of the Caribbean rides in both Walt Disney World and Disneyland to reflect the newly found obsession over the movies, but now some stars from the newest film are finding inspiration back in the musty grotto where it all started – …

“Off With Their Heads!” Disney Being Sued Over Use of Red Queen’s Throne

Not only was Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland” a huge box office hit for Disney, but it was visually captivating & used some stunning design elements that theater-goers reacted to. Over-the-top costumes, opulent architecture, and lavish furnishings completed the overall dreamy ‘Wonderland’ feel that Tim Burton gave detailed attention to. One of the furnishings, the Red Queen’s throne, is the topic of controversy among designer Arman Mkrtchyan and the Walt Disney Company. Mkrtchyan is suing the company, claiming that the throne used in the movie is a virtual clone of …

Disney’s Third Quarter Profits Beat Wall Street Expectations

With ‘hit it out of the park’ successes like “Toy Story 3,” “Alice in Wonderland,” and “Iron Man 2″ nobody should be surprised that Disney’s box office profits increased by 30 percent this quarter. Although, some other contributing factors helped the company to project a profit increase magical enough to beat Wall Street expectations.
“The Walt Disney Corporation’s revenues went up by $1.3 billion or 67 cents per share. This was around 40 percent from last year’s third quarter. This was 9 cents per share higher than the expected earnings …

Disney Changes Movie Release Dates; Shifts Up “Monsters” But Drops “Beauty” Entirely

Walt Disney Studios announced a few release schedule changes today that affect a number of their upcoming films. The first schedule change comes for “Monsters, Inc 2,” the sequel to the popular Pixar film. Originally reported to open in theaters on November 16, 2012, the film’s release will now be pushed up two weeks, opening instead on November 2 of the same year. This is presumably so the film won’t have to compete with Hollywood’s most popular vampires when “Twilight: Breaking Dawn (Part 2),” the final installment of the popular …
