‘Beauty and the Beast’ Breaks Several Box Office Records in Opening Weekend

Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast earned $170 million on its opening weekend, with a global box office of $350 million.
The film broke several box office records during its incredible opening weekend.
Beauty and the Beast is now the top domestic opening of all time for a PG-rated film. The previous record holder was Disney/Pixar’s Finding Dory.

D23 Announces Slate of Special Events for 2017

D23: The Official Disney Fan Club recently announced its slate of special member events for 2017.
Some of the events include screenings of Disney films like Tangled and Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. There will also be events at the Walt Disney Studios lot and the Walt Disney World Resort.
The 2017 D23 Fanniversary is celebrating the 35th anniversary of Epcot, and D23 will have special events at Disney World in addition to stories of the theme park told via videos, photos, and artwork.

Disney Announces 2016 Slate of Films

The Walt Disney Studios has announced its 2016 slate of films and fans can look forward to several animated features, a Star Wars prequel, and an Alice in Wonderland sequel.
There are 13 films in the 2016 slate including several expected blockbusters and a few possible sleeper hits.
The first film is The Finest Hours starring Chris Pine and it opens January 29. The film tells the story of a Coast Guard rescue and is based on real events.

‘Big Hero 6’ Hits $500 Million Mark at Global Box Office

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ hit film Big Hero 6 recently crossed the $500 million mark at the global box office.
This makes the film the fifth Disney animated film to make $500 million worldwide. The other films are Frozen, The Lion King, Tangled, and Aladdin.
Big Hero 6 earned $218.5 million at the domestic box office and will soon be the third highest grossing Disney Animation film in history.

Sneak Peek of ‘Cinderella’ Headed to Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Disney’s newest live-action adaptation is headed to the theaters in March, but fans can get an exclusive sneak peek of Cinderella at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
This special preview of Cinderella begins January 17 at the ABC Sound Studio and will be presented through March 21.
Fans will also have a chance to see the golden coach from the film when it arrives at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The coach will be on display outside the movie theater façade on the park’s Streets of America from February 1 through April 11.

The Walt Disney Studios Announces 2015 Slate of Films

This year looks like it’s going to be another big year for The Walt Disney Studios.
The Studio recently released information on its 2015 slate of films and it includes the live-action Cinderella which hits theaters in March, Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron which arrives in May, and the highly-anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens which opens on December 18.

New Deal between Turner Classic Movies and The Walt Disney Company Means Changes for The Great Movie Ride

The Walt Disney Company and the Turner Classic Movies (TCM) channel are announcing a partnership that will lead to changes at The Great Movie Ride at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
TCM will join two divisions of The Walt Disney Company and will not only help make the (much-needed) changes to the Great Movie Ride, but will also receive “Presented by” credits on the attraction’s posters, banners, and marquees.
The ride will also feature the TCM logo.

Walt Disney Studios’ Live-Action ‘Cinderella’ Hits Theaters in March 2015

The latest live-action adaptation of a classic Disney animated film, Cinderella, will arrive in theaters in the spring of 2015.
The film, directed by Academy Award nominee Kenneth Branagh (Thor, Hamlet), tells the story of Ella played by Lily James (Downton Abbey). After her mother’s death Ella’s father remarries and Ella must welcome her stepmother and stepsisters into the family home.

‘Frozen’ Producer Confirms Broadway Plans for Hit Disney Animated Film

Frozen really is headed to Broadway.
The film’s producer Peter Del Vecho confirmed earlier reports that that Academy Award-winning film is being turned into a Broadway play.
In an interview with TVGuide.com Del Vecho said “there is no specific timeline” for when Frozen might make its way to Broadway but would only say that it was “under development.”
Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee – the film’s director’s – are also rumored to be attached to the project.
