Guests heading to Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom will now find two of their favorite characters in a new place. This week brought the opening of Adventurers Outpost in the park, a new meet and greet location.
Adventurers Outpost, located on Discovery Island, will serve as Mickey and Minnie’s new home base at Animal Kingdom, replacing their old home at Camp Minnie-Mickey. The new location will feature mementos and photographs from the famous couple’s expeditions around the world, including photographs from such varied destinations as Nepal and the savannas of Africa.

It has been two days since the New York Post published an article exposing the recent practice of New York haute monde hiring disabled “guides” to masquerade as family members during Walt Disney World vacations.
Why? So they can skip the lines at the parks.
Disney’s reaction has been brief but decisive. According to Disney spokesperson Bryan Malenius, Disney is investigating these and other, similar claims of guests abusing handicap considerations at the parks. As Malenius told CNN,

Nearly 100 special needs and chronically ill children were able to enjoy the magic of Walt Disney World for a day on May 7 thanks to Operation Dreamlift.
A program run by the Sunshine Foundation, Operation Dreamlift has allowed over 5,000 children to visit special destinations in the Orlando area since the program began. Privately chartered planes carry the children to and from their one-day excursion. This was the foundation’s 24th trip to Disney, and the Foundation reportedly raised $300,000 in order to charter the flight for this year’s Operation …

Once Upon a Time‘s Evil Queen found a new kingdom this week, as actress Lana Parrilla visited New Fantasyland in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.
Parilla, who plays the Evil Queen/Regina Mills on the hit ABC show, visited New Fantasyland this week to film a promo for the newly-opened area. This November the Walt Disney World Resort will, for the first time ever, be host to a three-day charity walk sponsored by For A Cause. The Walk The World event is part of the A Walk Around The World Fundraising Walking Event series and is planned for November 14-18.
For A Cause is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that plans multi-day charity walks in vacation destinations. All participants are allowed to walk for the charity of their choice.
The Walk the World event is a walk-only fundraiser and is limited to 50 participants. …

Registration for the 2014 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend races opened at noon on April 9 and within hours the new Walt Disney World 10K was sold out. The 10K was one of two new events announced for the Marathon Weekend; the second new event is the Dopey Challenge where participants will run the 5K, 10K, half marathon, and full marathon for a total of 48.6 miles.

Last December, we let you know that a new waterfront restaurant in Morocco was likely coming to Epcot’s World Showcase, an announcement that was exclusively reported by the Disney Food Blog. Two live entertainment experiences available at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be closing soon, a spokesperson confirms.
The Pixar Pals Countdown to Fun parade, as well as the Disney Channel Rocks show will both be ending performances at the park as of April 6. No replacement has been announced as of today’s date.

Beginning this Saturday, children under the age of 14 will no longer be permitted to enter Disney Parks in the U.S. without an adult accompanying them.
While many probably thought a rule like this was already in place, it’s actually a new guideline. Disney states that no particular incident triggered the new rule.
