Online Check-In Available on My Disney Experience App

If you’re visiting the Walt Disney World Resort and you’re staying at a WDW hotel, you can now use the Online Check-In service via the My Disney Experience app.
Online Check-In allows guests to begin their check-in experience 60 days before they arrive at Walt Disney World, essentially bypassing the front desk.
Guests can provide an email address and mobile phone number where they’ll receive notification when their room is ready. Check-In is complete when guests use their MagicBands to unlock their hotel room door.

Minnie Vehicle Service to Begin this Month at Walt Disney World Resort

Last week’s D23 Expo was full of exciting announcements about Walt Disney World Resort, including new transportation options that are coming to the resort.
One option – playful deemed Minnie Vans – is set to start transporting guests this month!
The Minnie Vehicle Service is a fleet of vehicles ready to whisk guests off to any destination at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Applications Open for 2018 Disney Dreamers Academy

Applications are now open for the 2018 class of the Disney Dreamers Academy at the Walt Disney World Resort.
Each year, 100 high school students from around the country are selected to participate in the Disney Dreamers Academy with Steve Harvey and ESSENCE.
The outside-the-classroom mentoring program takes place each March at the Walt Disney World Resort.
Students in the program will learn valuable skills including communication techniques, leadership, and networking strategies. The program also features guest speakers who give participants tips and insight on how to dream big.

Disney Planning Lighthouse Sculpture in Honor of Toddler Killed by Alligator Last Year

A year ago today 2-year-old Lane Graves was killed by an alligator at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. Yesterday Disney announced plans to erect a lighthouse sculpture in his honor later this year.
The lighthouse – a symbol of the Lane Thomas Foundation – will be placed at an undisclosed location at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Night of Joy 2017 Ticket Information Updated

A new ticket structure has been announced for the 2017 Night of Joy event at the Walt Disney World Resort.
Guests will have a chance to purchase a concert only ticket or a concert plus theme park ticket for either night, or a two-night concert ticket.
The options for this year are:

Single-night concert only ticket: $45 plus tax in advance
Two-night concert only tickets: $69 plus tax in advance
Add on a 1 day theme park ticket for $62 plus tax

Walt Disney World Resort Gondola System Appears to be a Reality

Back in February we told you about rumors of a gondola lift system that was rumored to be coming to the Walt Disney World Resort.
Now it appears that this new transportation system is becoming a reality for the resort.
The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that documents obtained from the Reedy Creek Improvement District confirm the project.
According to the documents, there will be six stations with three gondola lines that link Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Epcot, Caribbean Beach Resort, and the area between Pop Century and Art of Animation.

Metal Detectors for Magic Kingdom Moved to Transportation and Ticket Center

The metal detectors that are currently located just outside the gates for the Magic Kingdom are on the move.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, the metal detectors will be located at the Transportation and Ticket Center beginning next Monday.
Guests who drive to the Magic Kingdom and arrive at the TTC will go through the metal detectors prior to boarding the Monorail or ferry boat.
The guests who arrive to the Magic Kingdom via Monorail or ferry boat will not need to go through security once they reach the theme park. However, guests …

Is Disney Planning to Build a Cable Car System at the Walt Disney World Resort?

There’s been a rumor circulating for a short time that the Walt Disney World Resort is considering building a cable car system on property.
And, thanks to the filing of some plans by the Reedy Creek Improvement District with the South Florida Water Management District, that rumor is getting stronger.

ABC’s ‘The View’ is Coming to Walt Disney World Resort in March

ABC’s daytime talk show The View is coming to the Walt Disney World Resort in March to broadcast at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
The show’s hosts announced the Disney broadcasts earlier this week. It will be the first time The View has broadcast from the Walt Disney World Resort.

Disney Parks Announce New Ambassadors for 2017

Disney Parks and Resorts has officially welcomed the new class of ambassadors for 2017-28.
Disney Parks Ambassadors are a tradition that goes back to Walt Disney.
The ambassadors act as spokespeople for the Disney Parks, lead community outreach and volunteer opportunities, and and act as ambassadors of goodwill representing the 135,000 cast members around the world.
