Disney Parks Offering Romantic Dinners at Select Restaurants for True Love Week

As part of their Limited Time Magic promotion, both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort will be offering romantic meals for two at select restaurants during True Love Week.
From February 11 to 17, several restaurants will feature prix fixe menus so you and your sweetie can enjoy a memorable Valentine’s meal. New Balance & Disney Sign Partnership Deal

Boston sneaker manufacturer New Balance has signed a multi-year partnership agreement with Walt Disney Parks and Resorts to become the official athletic shoe for Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, and ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

Walt Disney World’s Boardwalk Barkey Closed for Renovations

The Boardwalk Bakery at Walt Disney World Resort’s Boardwalk Inn is currently closed for renovations, according to our friends at The Disney Food Blog.
The popular breakfast, lunch and dessert eatery will be closed until April 26 for renovations, which will include several new features as well as brand-new menu items to enhance the guest experience.

Employee Finds Hand Grenades at Downtown Disney

On Wednesday, a Walt Disney World employee found three hand grenades in a trash can in Downtown Disney.
A law enforcement official with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said a janitor found the hand grenades, but that no one was injured. According to official investigative reports, the hollowed-out grenades would not have posed a threat to anyone, but they planned to blow the grenades up so they could be properly disposed of.

Walt Disney World Resort Reducing Annual Passholder Discounts

On January 1, Walt Disney World Resort will cut the shopping discounts offered to visitors who purchase premium annual passes, which can cost upwards of $700 each.
Previously, the discount offered 20 percent off merchandise purchases. Come the new year, the resort will slash those discounts in half to 10 percent. Spokesman Bryan Malenius declined to offer comment on why the resort has decided to cut back on the discount, but did say that “[Walt Disney World] regularly evaluates our discounts and offers for annual pass holders and make adjustments.”

Celebrate New Year’s Eve at the Magic Kingdom

If you missed the holiday hubbub at “The Happiest Place on Earth,” you can still celebrate the holiday season, Disney-style.
At Walt Disney World Resort’s Magic Kingdom park, guests are invited to celebrate New Year’s Eve with a variety of festive entertainment options. Walt Disney World Implements More RFID Technology

In a continuing effort to streamline the guest experience, Walt Disney World has begun rolling out more RFID technology to several locations throughout the parks.
RFID, or radio frequency identification, has already been in use at the parks for certain situations – such as employee parking cards that allow them to enter their office building to report to work. Walt Disney World Donates Unclaimed Cell Phones to Local Charities

Several Central Florida theme parks, including Walt Disney World, are donating unclaimed electronic devices to local charities to help fund their ongoing efforts.
One such charity that benefits from Disney World’s donations is Harbor House of Central Florida, who sell the donated smartphones on eBay and Craigslist. According to CEO Carol Wick, the donations have generated about $50,000 annually for the women’s shelter.
