Walt Disney World Resort Conducting Search for Two Disney Ambassadors

The Walt Disney World Resort is once again searching for cast members to fill the roles of Disney Ambassadors.
the Disney Ambassadors program started during Disneyland’s 10th anniversary when Walt Disney chose the first Ambassador. Since 1971 there have been 72 Walt Disney World Ambassadors.
Every two years cast members are invited to participate in the selection process which includes several rounds of interviews. Finalists are given an opportunity to interact with cast, visit non-profit organizations, and test their media interview skills.

D23 Celebrating 23rd Issue of ‘Disney twenty-three’ Magazine

The fall issues of Disney twenty-three magazine marks the 23rd issue for the publication.
This issue will take readers around the globe to experience Disney in Europe, South America, and Asia. The magazine’s cover photo is a mosaic featuring Walt and Roy O. Disney with Margie Gay of the Alice Comedies short series.

‘Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives’ Presented by D23 Extends Run in Chicago through January 2015

If you haven’t had a chance to make it to Chicago to see the Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives presented by D23, you’re in luck.
The exhibit has been extended through January 4, 2015 at the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago (MSI).
Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives features more than 300 artifacts from nearly 90 years of Disney history, including props, costumes, memorabilia, and artwork. The items are from Disney animated films, theme park attractions, television shows, and live-action Disney films.

PBS Announces ‘Walt Disney’ Premiering on ‘American Experience’ in 2015

PBS recently announced that a new four-hour, two-night film Walt Disney will be premiering on American Experience in the fall of 2015.
The announcement was made at the Television Critics Association conference on July 22.
American Experience celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2013 and brings to life the characters and stories that shaped America’s past and present. The American Experience documentaries have won 30 Emmy Awards, four DuPont-Columbia Awards, and 16 George Foster Peabody Awards.

Disney Channel Debuts New Logo and All-New On Air Graphics

The Disney Channel is sporting a brand new channel logo.
The network debuted the new channel logo and all-new on-air graphics on May 23 in the U.S. The other 42 Disney Channels worldwide will also get a logo overhaul this year.
All programming, identification spots, and programming menus will feature the new logo, style, and pattern which features a contemporary new look.

Registration Open for Animation Summer Camps at The Walt Disney Family Museum

The Walt Disney Family Museum is offering animation summer camps for kids ages 8-18 who want to learn more about the art of animation.
Participants can learn to create an animated story, embrace their creativity through painting and sculpture, and learn from professionals in the animation field. The camps are scheduled for June, July, and August.

Oswald the Lucky Rabbit Debuts at Tokyo Disney Resort

Walt Disney’s first animated star – Oswald the Lucky Rabbit – has found a new home at Tokyo Disney Resort.
As the story goes, throughout the years this Lucky Rabbit has traveled the world and held many different job titles including trolley conductor and lifeguard.
But now, Oswald has arrived at Tokyo DisneySea where he’s playing the role of a farmer in the Cape Cod section of the American Waterfront. He is greeting guests at his produce stand that is stocked with eggs and flowers for the season.

Disney VoluntEARS Spread Holiday Cheer with 36,000 Toys for Kids in Central Florida

The Walt Disney World Resort and its cast members are working hard to make the holidays a little more magical for families in Central Florida.
The cast member VoluntEARS have collected and donated more than 36,000 new toys to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots to benefit kids in Orange and Seminole counties.
VoluntEARS have also given more than 6,000 hours helping the Marines register families for the annual giving campaign, in addition to sorting and packing the toys.

Walt Disney’s Daughter, Diane Disney Miller, Dies at Age 79

Diane Disney Miller, the eldest daughter of Walt Disney, died Tuesday at the age of 79. She had suffered a fall at her home in September.
Disney Miller was well-known for her philanthropic work, and was also recognized as one of the inspirations for Disneyland, along with her sister Sharon.

Disney Will No Longer Issue Paper Stock Certificates to Shareholders

Beginning next week, Disney’s paper stock certificates will be a thing of the past.
The Walt Disney Company has announced that it will stop issuing paper stock certificates to shareholders as of October 16.
The company’s stock certificates feature images of iconic Disney characters including Mickey Mouse, Tinker Bell, and Dumbo, and are a collector’s item for anyone who happens to love all things Disney.
