Quick Update:  Disney’s California Resident Ticket for Southern Californians Only

We first told you about the special ticket for California residents that Disney was offering a couple of days ago.  Although the price has increased over last year’s “slow season” deal, there’s a little more flexibility with the new ticket.  Today, another little detail came to light, via the Disney Parks Blog.  The deal is truly a Southern California deal – meaning it’s only available to folks with Southern Cali zips (90000-93599) or North Baja Cali zips (21000-22999.)  We wanted to pass the information along to avoid any inconvenience.

‘Disney Channel Rocks’ Debuts at Disney California Adventure

The “World of Color”  fountains are now getting a workout during the day.  Over the holiday weekend, Disney California Adventure officially debuted its new show, “Disney Channel Rocks.”
The seventeen-minute show incorporates songs from some of Disney’s most popular tween- and teen-focused works, past and present, including ”Camp Rock,” and  ”High School Musical.”  Also in the show are songs from the TV shows “Shake It Up,” as well as “Hannah Montana,” and “Jonas Brothers.”

New World of Color Lunch Package Announced

Beginning November 26, Disneyland Resort guests who would like to view World of Color without the fuss of fighting the crowds will have a new option.  Dinner packages for World of Color have been so popular that the resort is now offering a lunch package.
The prix fixe package allows guests to reserve a spot for viewing the popular nighttime water spectacular by booking a table at one of their favorite restaurants.

Disneyland’s World of Color Wins Prestigious Award

Guests and Visitors to Disneyland Resort have been amazed and delighted with the new “World of Color,” attraction, and now the unique show has won its first prestigious award.
On Tuesday, the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) announced that “World of Color” had captured this year’s THEA award for Outstanding Achievement – Nighttime Spectacular.  In a ceremony held during the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attraction’s (IAAPA) annual conference, TEA described the display as “a visual and technical marvel.”  In all, Disney has won 34 coveted Thea Awards over the span of 17 …

Will World of Color Save Disney’s California Adventure?

Disney executives are betting heavily on the upcoming debut of World of Color. The company hopes that their upcoming extravaganza will turn the under-performing park into a hit.
On Thurday, June 11th, Disney will launch this ambitious project. Costing an estimated $75 million it is a key component of a billion dollar plan to improve the performance of Disney’s California Adventure. According to the New York Times:

Disney’s California Adventure Guests Get Preview of “Silly Symphony Swings” on Paradise Pier

On Friday guests at Disney’s California Adventure park received an unexpected treat, a soft opening for the re-imagineered “Silly Symphonies Swings” attraction on Paradise Pier. Formally known as the “Orange Stinger” the swings went under refurbishment as part of Disney’s $1 billion expansion and makeover of the park. Two weeks before the re-themed attraction was scheduled to re-open the Orange County Register is reporting that Disney guest relation officials are unable to confirmation if the soft opening will continue during Memorial Day weekend.

World of Color Dining Packages Announced

Dining Packages have been announced for Disneyland Resort’s World of Color show, which will launch on June 11th in Disney’s California Adventure.
Packages will be available for two seating times, the first seating time including tickets for the first World of Color showing, the second seating time including tickets for the second World of Color showing. Restaurants currently available for booking are Wine Country Trattoria and Ariel’s Grotto.

Bringing Life to Disneyland’s World of Color “Dancing” Fountains

Have you ever wondered how Disney’s World of Color Imagineers researched how to make the fountains “dance?”
By watching real dancers, of course! Disney brought in a world-renowned choreographer to help translate human dance into…water dance!
