Sources have announced that The Meredith Corporation has purchased Disney Publishing Worldwide’s FamilyFun Magazine, adding to their roster of family-oriented titles which includes American Baby, Parents and Family Circle.

Art Slusark, vice president for corporate communications at Meredith, says “it works well with our parenting strategy.” American Baby and Parents are aimed at mothers with infants and toddlers, and Family Circle focus on families with teens. Now that the company has acquired FamilyFun magazine, they’ll have a parenting magazine that focuses on parents with children ages 3 to 12.

Initially, FamilyFun debuted in1991, and now that the magazine has been sold, Disney plans to focus on their core children’s magazine and book businesses.

The first issue of The Merdith Corporation’s FamilyFun magazine will debut in March.
