The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and the Festival of Fantasy Parade Are Two Highlights for Walt Disney World Guests in 2014

In a few short weeks we’ll be ringing in the New Year and 2014 promises to be a magical year for guests at the Walt Disney World Resort.

The centerpiece of New Fantasyland – the Seven Dwarfs Mine Ride – opens next spring, completing the expansion of the area. The ride is inspired by the 1937 animated classic and takes guests on a musical ride into the mine.

Guests will walk across a stone bridge and through a forest as they come to the attraction’s entrance. After an interactive pre-show guests will board the one-of-a-kind mine trains for their journey. Along the way they’ll see figures of Snow White, the Seven Dwarfs, and more.

The Disney Festival of Fantasy parade marches into the Magic Kingdom in the spring with new floats, costumes, and an original soundtrack featuring songs from Disney films and a new parade theme song. The parade will feature new floats with Ariel and her friends, Merida, the Disney Princesses, Peter Pan, and Rapunzel and Flynn Rider.

Changes are coming to Downtown Disney next year too, with the addition of Fit2Run, the Marketplace Co-Op, and two new Starbucks locations – all of which are part of the kickoff for the multi-year transformation to Disney Springs.

A new resort is coming to the Walt Disney World Resort as the Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts is planning the 2014 opening of a luxury hotel within the Golden Oak residential community. The hotel will feature a rooftop restaurant with views of the Magic Kingdom, a 14,000 square foot spa, and a lazy river.

runDisney enthusiasts will be racing to the finish line of the new 10K races during the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend and the Princess Half Marathon Weekend. In addition to the 10K races, there are also new challenges for the runners including the Dopey Challenge during the marathon weekend and the Glass Slipper Challenge during the Princess Half Marathon weekend.

Disney will also continue to roll out MyMagic+ throughout next year, taking the guest experience to a new level.

Other events to look forward to in 2014 include the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival, Atlanta Braves Spring Training, Star Wars Weekends, Car Masters Weekend, and the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival.
