The Walt Disney Company Names Paul Candland as President of Asia Division

the walt disney company logoThe Walt Disney Company has named Paul Candland to the newly created position of president, The Walt Disney Company Asia.

Candland will oversee Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia, and Greater China in addition to being responsible for driving the company’s strategy and business efforts in Asia. Prior to being named to this position Candland was president of Walt Disney Japan.

“Asia is a region of incredible growth and great promise for Disney, and these management changes are designed to ensure we maximize our opportunities there today and in the future,” said Robert A. Iger, chairman and chief executive of The Walt Disney Company. “This new structure will bring greater focus and the ability to share best practices across businesses and countries as we grow strategically in Asian markets.”

The company also announced other promotions including Stanley Cheung’s move from managing director TWDC Greater China to chairman of TWDC Greater China. Luke Kang, the senior vice president TWDC Greater China has moved into the position of managing director TWDC Greater China.

Kang will have direct oversight of Disney’s business in Greater China with the exception of Shanghai Disney Resort and Hong Kong Disneyland – those locations report directly to Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Tom Staggs.
