The Week in Disney News: Main Street Electric Parade Leaving, Elena of Avalor Debuts, and More!

msepHappy Sunday and welcome to our weekly recap of the biggest Disney news!

This week ended with the sad news that the iconic and very popular Main Street Electric Parade is leaving the Magic Kingdom on October 9. The parade is going to Disneyland for a limited time encore. There is no word yet on what, if anything, will replace the MSEP.

In happier news, Disney’s newest Princess – Elena of Avalor – made her official debut at the Magic Kingdom this week. The park is celebrating Elena’s arrival with a daily performance for a limited time.

Elena will arrive at Disneyland later this fall.

Walt Disney World Resort Annual Passholders can purchase discounted Park Hopper tickets from now through September 30. The tickets must be used on the day they are purchased.

Disneyland Resort is adding an Eastern Gateway that will open in 2018.

Tables in Wonderland has added several new restaurants to its list including Tiffins and the Nomad Lounge.

The full lineup for this year’s Night of Joy at the ESPN Wide World of Sports has been announced.

And finally, Disney is building a boulder wall along the shores of the Seven Seas Lagoon.
