The Week in Disney News: New Summer Vacation Offer, Change in ‘Star Wars’ Release Date, and More

star wars logoHappy weekend! We hope you’re staying warm wherever you are! It was a big week for Disney news so let’s dive right in.

Walt Disney World Resort announced a new summer vacation offer for guests traveling May 29 through June 30 and from July 5 through August 15. The Summer Quick Service resort offer gives guests one free Quick Service meal per day for the length of your stay.

This offer must be booked by February 29.

A new light-up lotus blossom popcorn bucket will debut later this spring at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, presumably around the time the Rivers of Light nighttime show debuts.

The Walt Disney Studios has pushed back the release date for Star Wars: Episode VIII until December 2017. The original May 26, 2017 release date is now the official release date for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Speaking of Star Wars, the “second wave” of merchandise from the blockbuster film has arrived in stores. This new collection features Rey, Finn, and other toys that focus on key plot points of the film.

And because there’s no such thing as “too much Star Wars news,” we’re excited to hear that Kylo Ren is arriving at Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ and Disneyland’s Star Wars Launch Bay for a new meet-and-greet.

That’s the big news from last week! We’re sure this week will be full of fun and exciting news too. Stay tuned to DisZine for all the Disney news every week. And be sure to follow us on Twitter and like us over on Facebook.
