The Week in Disney News – Star Wars Land Coming to Disney World and Disneyland, Jungle Cruise Restaurant Announced, and More

star wars landWhat a week for Disney fans! As I type, the D23 Expo is still happening so there’s sure to be more exciting news to report. But let’s talk about what we know so far!

First – and perhaps most importantly – Disney officially announced that a Star Wars-themed land is coming to both Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland! The lands will be 14 acres each and will feature two new attractions (including a chance to be at the controls of the Millennium Falcon!) along with a Star Wars Cantina and more!

In other big, exciting news – a Jungle Cruise-themed restaurant is opening later this year in Adventureland in the Magic Kingdom! The Jungle Navigation Co., Ltd. Skipper Canteen will feature several different dining rooms including a crew mess hall, a once hidden secret meeting room of the ‘Society of Explorers and Adventurers (yes, the same group that used to meet at Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar in Disney Springs).

Speaking of Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar, Disney gave fans a sneak peek at the menu last week and we can look forward to noshing on items like pretzels with house-made mustard and cheese fondue, Dr. Elsa’s She-Deviled Eggs topped with crab and brined with beet juice, “Good” Dates stuffed with goat cheese, Rolling Boulder Sliders, and “Squid! Why’d It Have to be Squid” calamari flatbread.

Jock Lindsey’s is located in Downtown Disney which will soon be renamed Disney Springs, and it seems that the signage around the area will be showcasing the new name very soon. The official renaming of the shopping and entertainment district will happen later this fall.

That’s the big news from last week! We’re sure this week will be full of fun and exciting news too. Stay tuned to DisZine for all the Disney news every week. And be sure to follow us on Twitter and like us over on Facebook.
