This Week in Disney News – 2015 Marathon Merchandise, a New Africa Marketplace, and College Football Mascots
Since it is a holiday week it’s been a bit slow in the news department but there were still a few big stories.
Early in the week Disney announced the all-new Africa Marketplace at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This area will nearly double the size of the existing Africa area of the theme park and includes the Harambe Marketplace which will feature all-new quick service dining options.
The Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend is just a couple week away and runDisney has released a sneak peek of the race-inspired merchandise for the weekend. Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2015 and all the merchandise for that race will feature a special anniversary logo. And, all the races will now have their very own car magnet!
Speaking of new merchandise – the 2015-themed Disney Parks merchandise is arriving at Disneyland and Walt Disney World! The merchandise features Disney characters showing their #DisneySide!
Disney World also announced the January merchandise events and one of the events is the release of an all-new fragrance from Laila, Inc. – guests can find out more from fragrance creator Geir Ness at The Puffin’s Roost in Epcot’s Norway pavilion.
And finally a bit of fun. The four college football mascots from the teams in the College Football Playoffs are starring in a string of new television spots inspired by the “I’m going to Disney World!” ad campaign.
