Toddler Attacked by Alligator at Disney’s Grand Floridian Beach

grand floridian gator-001A two-year-old Nebraska boy is presumed dead after being dragged into the Seven Seas Lagoon at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa Tuesday night.

The boy was reportedly playing in the water when the alligator – thought to be between 4 and 7 feet long – snatched him, dragging him into the lagoon.

According to officials, the boy’s parents entered the water and tried to wrestle the boy away from the gator.

Around 12:30 p.m. ET today officials said the gator attack was not survivable and the rescue mission was now a “recovery” mission. More than 50 members of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office are assisting in the recovery of the boy’s body.

Disney has closed all beaches at the Walt Disney World Resort and has suspended watercraft activity on Seven Seas Lagoon, including ferry boats to the Magic Kingdom.
