Update on Fantasyland Expansion: Storybook Circus

16 June 2011 No Comment

This week, details continue to emerge about the work going on behind the scenes in the Fantasyland expansion.  While Disney has shared plenty of information recently about the royally-themed details of the new areas, like Beast’s Castle and Maurice’s Cottage, as well as the new Little Mermaid-themed dark ride, less has been known about the area that will incorporate Dumbo.  But now, we’re learning more about the classic ride and its new digs.

Storybook Circus will be the theme for the part of Fantasyland that Dumbo will inhabit.  The area will take on the appearance of a big top circus, as Casey Jr., the famous locomotive from the Disney animated classic, Dumbo, rolls into town.  In fact, Casey and some of the circus animals will provide a nice area to cool down, presumably a splash pad, near the Story Book Circus train station.

As previously discussed, the area will also hold two Dumbo rides to ease congestion at the popular attraction.  Nearby, the Barnstormer, the kiddie coaster that inhabited the now defunct Mickey’s Toontown Fair, will be transformed into the Great Goofini, featuring Goofy taking a ride in a daring stunt plane – and welcoming guests along for the fun.

Are you more excited for Storybook Circus, or Fantasyland’s Royal attractions?
