Walt Disney World Implements More RFID Technology

In a continuing effort to streamline the guest experience, Walt Disney World has begun rolling out more RFID technology to several locations throughout the parks.

RFID, or radio frequency identification, has already been in use at the parks for certain situations – such as employee parking cards that allow them to enter their office building to report to work. However, media reports are now saying that the theme park has begun implementing RFID technology in other areas of the park including several retail locations and the entrance to all four Walt Disney World Resort theme parks.

The increasing presence of RFID technology within the theme parks is designed to make it as easy as possible for guests to enjoy their Walt Disney World vacations. In fact, the move to this new technology will eventually allow guests to get a Fastpass, make purchases with their hotel key and other elements to simplify the vacation experience.

We will update you on this emerging technology as Walt Disney World continues to make this technological transition.
