Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort opened October 1, 1988 and is located within the Walt Disney World Resort. The tropical-themed resort resides on the 45-acre Barefoot Bay, and all rooms are arranged across six villages – Trinidad North, Trinidad South, Martinique, Barbados, Aruba and Jamaica. Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort has also been recognized by the Florida Green Lodging Program for its use of responsible environmental practices.

The main lobby, dubbed the Custom House, is located in a separate building designed to replicate the reception area of a Caribbean retreat. Because the lobby may be some distance from your hotel room, a complimentary shuttle is available to transport guests to and from the Custom House.

There are various room types available, including standard rooms, water view rooms, rooms that are equipped with king beds, as well as preferred room types. Additionally, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort operates specialty Pirate themed rooms that feature pirate ship beds and other nautical decor, but visitors must reserve these specialty rooms early because of their popularity. The pirate themed rooms can feature a standard view or a water view, depending on availability.

The hub of the resort, called Old Port Royale, features all of the dining and shopping establishments available to resort guests. There are several quick service and casual dining eateries available, including the Old Port Royale food court that is themed after a Caribbean village.

In addition to the shopping and dining available at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, there are plenty of recreational activities for adults, children and families to enjoy. Relax and soak up the sun on the sandy white beaches surrounding Barefoot Bay, or enjoy a watercraft rental to get out on the water (swimming is prohibited.) There are also volleyball courts, bike rentals and a jogging trail for fitness-minded guests who want to enjoy the great outdoors while having a blast at the same time.

Additionally, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort features six heated pools throughout the property. The main pool area is located at Old Port Royale, and is themed after the colonial Spanish fortress Fuentes del Morro. This pirate-themed swimming area features zero-depth-entry, two waterslides (one is over 80 feet long) and two spas that can each accommodate up to 12 people. The adjacent water play area is perfect for children too young to enjoy the waterslides at the main pool complex, and includes three child-sized waterslides, squirt hoses and more.

Children can also enjoy the playground at Caribbean Bay, which is located across the bridge from the resort. This one-acre play area features slides and other playground equipment perfect for little ones. The Goombay Games Arcade is also fun for children and adults alike, and features plenty of state-of-the-art video gaming as well as classic pinball games.

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort encompasses the Disney magic and storytelling the company is famous for, and features world-class amenities, a modest selection of shopping and dining establishments, and plenty of recreational activities the whole family can enjoy.
