Disney’s Old Key West Resort opened in 1991, and and was the first Disney Vacation Club Timeshare Resort – in fact, the resort originally opened as Disney’s Vacation Club Resort, but the name was changed in 1996. Rooms are available to rent year-round by both DVC members and non-members alike, and the resort’s beautiful landscaping and Florida Keys-themed decor offer a relaxing way to enjoy a Disney vacation.
There are 761 rooms available at Disney’s Old Key West Resort, and several different room types as well. The resort offers studios, one bedroom villas, two bedroom villas and three bedroom villas that can accommodate between 4 and12 guests with majestic views of of the water, woodlands or fairways depending on availability.
Disney’s Old Key West Resort also offers several dining establishments for hungry guests, including Good’s Food To Go, a quick service counter offering hot dogs, burgers, sandwiches, salads and ice cream that can be consumed at the outdoor seating area or in the comfort of your room. For a casual sit-down dining experience, Olivia’s Cafe offers American cuisine and Florida seafood. At the Turtle Shack Snack Bar, guests can pick up a variety of hot and cold meals, beer, snacks and other specialty beverages while lounging poolside and soaking up the sun.
There are also a variety of recreational activities available to guests staying at Disney’s Old Key West Resort. Choose from several outdoor activities, including golf, watercraft rentals, basketball, volleyball, tennis, jogging or biking, or enjoy the sun in one of four pools the resort offers. Each of the pools are heated, and the main pool features a water slide, separate children’s pool and a spa. Guests can also rent inner tubes for the water slide at the adjacent Hank’s Rent ‘N Return. Three smaller pools are located in the Old Turtle Pond, South Point and Miller’s Road sections of the resort. There’s also a beach area, but swimming is prohibited.
Children can enjoy the fun as well by visiting one of two arcades located at the resort, as well as a playground with plenty of slides, swings and more for the little ones. The Conch Flats Community Hall, located in the Hospitality House, can also be fun for the whole family. Rent DVD’s, play table tennis, foosball and board games, or simply unwind in front of the big screen television. Shuffleboard equipment is also available from Hank’s Rent ‘N Return, for guests who enjoy the challenge. Fitness-minded guests can also take advantage of the high-tech exercise equipment located at the Fitness Center in R.E.S.T. Beach.
