‘American Idol Experience’ at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Closing in January 2015

american idol experienceDisney’s Hollywood Studio’s ‘American Idol Experience’ is closing at the beginning of 2015.

The attraction based on the Fox television series opened in 2009 and allows guests of the park to be contestants. The winner of each “show” returned for the grand finale at the end of the day and the winner of that round was given a “dream ticket” to cut to the front of the line at the American Idol reality show auditions.

When the attraction opened, host Ryan Seacrest and past American Idol winners and contestants including Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, and Carrie Underwood were on hand for the blue carpet event.

Just like the reality show, the ‘American Idol Experience’ featured a host and three judges who provided constructive criticism to the contestants.

And, three of the top 13 contestants on the last season of the reality show were discovered via the ‘American Idol Experience.’

In a joint statement Disney, FremantleMedia, and 19Entertainment said they “are incredibly proud of the more than 2,000 Dream Tickets that have given guests a chance to live their very own Cinderella story and audition for American Idol.”

There is no word yet on what will replace the ‘American Idol Experience’ next year.
