Dining at Disney’s Aulani Resort

While swimming, snorkeling, and enjoying the beautiful tropical weather are on the must-do list for any visit to Disney’s new Hawaiian resort, Aulani, let’s not forget the food!

Disney Food Blog is reporting that there will be nine dining options at the resort, and they all sound delicious.

Most prominent at the resort will be the Makahiki Buffet Restaurant. Serving buffet style, the location will offer breakfasts with favorite Disney characters and casual dinner meals. The cuisine will reflect local favorites and a special effort will be made to bring in fresh, sustainable ingredients. The unique name comes from murals that will painted on the restaurant’s walls, created by local artists depicting the story of Makahiki, the Hawaiian harvest festival.

The ‘AMA ‘AMA Beachside Restaurant will have a gorgeous view of the resort’s special swimming lagoon and the full Pacific ocean. Seating will be located inside “hale,” or beach houses, and the restaurant will serve traditional Hawaiian meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Specialties will include omelets for breakfast; sandwiches, salads, and seafood for lunch; and steak, duck, seafood, and other a la carte items for dinner.

The Lava Shack is the perfect place for plate lunches! Cold Fried Chicken, Cured Meats and Cheese, and Chilled Miso-glazed Salmon are on the menu here, and it’s the perfect place to stop after a visit to the snorkel lagoon. The Lava Shack will also stock grab-and-go items and will have a refillable mug station.

Of course, it’s not Hawai’i without shaved ice! There will be a shave ice kiosk on the pool deck, serving shaved ice crystals — snow cone style — covered in sweet syrup.
