Disney Interactive Reports $216 Million Loss

Disney Interactive, the media giant’s game division, posted a $216 million loss for its full year and fourth quarter, which ended September 29. It was the only unit within The Walt Disney Co. that did not see a profit.

Despite the loss, it was an improvement over the $308 million dollar loss the company reported this time last year. Disney attributes the improvement to the continued focus on the division’s social games presence.

The hit came on the console side, as a result of lower console sales overall because of the limited release of “significant” titles. However, Disney’s Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, slated for release November 18, should help Disney’s game division profit-wise.
