Disney Unveils Details on Shanghai Disney Resort

treasure cove shanghaiDisney has unveiled all-new details for the Shanghai Disney Resort using a scale model that showcased the resort’s two hotels, Disneytown, and Shanghai Disneyland.

This new resort will “blend the magic of Disney and the cultural spirit and beauty of China.” The theme park will feature the tallest, largest, and most interactive castle in any of the Disney theme parks.

“We are building something truly special here in Shanghai that not only showcases the best of Disney’s storytelling but also celebrates and incorporates China’s incredibly rich heritage to create a one-of-a-kind destination that will delight and entertain the people of China for generations to come,” said Disney CEO Bob Iger during the media presentation.

Shanghai Disneyland will feature six themed lands including Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, Treasure Cove, Adventure Isle, Mickey Avenue, and Gardens of Imagination.

Tomorrowland will include the TRON Lightcycle Power Run coaster, while Fantasyland will be homed to the Enchanted Storybook Castle, Voyage to the Crystal Grotto, the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and Peter Pan’s Flight.

Treasure Cove is the first pirate-themed land at a Disney theme park and is home to Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle of Sunken Treasure. This boat ride will feature robotics, animations, and more. Mickey Avenue is the first entry at a Disney theme park that is inspired by Mickey Mouse and his friends. And the Gardens of Imagination celebrates the wonders of nature in seven whimsical gardens.

Construction on Shanghai Disney Resort started in 2011 and is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2016.
