Four Seasons Delays Hotel Opening at Walt Disney World

Guests who are eager to stay at the Four Seasons when visiting Walt Disney World will have a little longer to wait.

The upscale hotel company originally announced in 2007 that it would open a new property in Orlando, with an opening date in 2010.  However, plans to build the hotel were first hindered by the sluggish economy.  Later, delays occurred as initial plans had to be reworked when it was announced that the Four Seasons would be a focal point for Disney’s ultra-affluent new subdivision, Golden Oak.  At this point, reports put the opening date for the 445-room hotel as sometime in early 2014.

Disney has been attempting to lure a more affluent clientele for a while.  The luxury Waldorf Astoria opened in 2009, and Disney states that it has already sold sites for its Golden Oak community.  To date, construction has begun on 11 homesites.  Ultimately, Disney plans to offer 450 homes within the exclusive community.
