Frankenweenie Weekend Announced for Downtown Disney

Editor’s Note:  Guest writer Cari Keebaugh has the low down on the upcoming Frankenweenie Weekend at Walt Disney World’s Downtown Disney! Will you be attending?  Take it away, Cari!

Downtown Disney’s West Side at Walt Disney World will be offering a “dead-fully” delightful time for all during the “Frankenweenie Weekend,” to be held September 28-30.

This weekend-long event will pay tribute to Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, Alice in Wonderland, and especially the upcoming October 5 release of Frankenweenie, the much-anticipated remake of the 1984 short film.

A variety of special opportunities will be available, such as 3-D screenings of The Nightmare Before Christmas and Alice in Wonderland, as well as a special 3-D extended preview of Frankenweenie, at the AMC theater in Downtown Disney. Tickets will be $6.

Starving to death after the movie? Slake your thirst with Franken Fusion Lemonade and give up the ghost of your hunger with Frankenweenie hotdogs. Besides the special treats, themed merchandise will also be available.

In addition, Burton aficionados will be able to enjoy the very first character meet-and-greet with Jack and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Dying for another photo-opp? (That’s my last bad Halloween wordplay in this article, I promise.) In the evenings at the New Holland Pet Cemetery picture spot, you can picture yourself and your family in the middle of the fun! This photo spot, presented by HGTV, will place guests in the Pet Cemetery, one of the main settings from Frankenweenie.

If you’re not dead-tired after attending the “Frankenweenie Weekend” (I know, I know), you can also stop by the other events going on at Disney, like the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-Miler race and the beginning of the 2012 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. While you’re there, don’t forget to raise your glass and toast Epcot’s 30th anniversary!
