‘Frozen’ Attraction to Replace Maelstrom in Epcot’s Norway Pavilion

frozen (2)Elsa and Anna’s takeover of Walt Disney World is official.

Disney Parks announced today that construction is underway for a new Frozen attraction in the Norway Pavilion at Epcot.

The attraction will replace fan favorite Maelstrom – which incidentally celebrated its 25th anniversary last year.

The new Frozen attraction will take guests to Arendelle and will showcase moments and music from the hit animated film.

The Norway Pavilion will also be home to a new meet-and-greet location where guests can meet Anna and Elsa.

During this year’s holiday season the characters from Frozen will also take center stage at the Magic Kingdom as Queen Elsa uses her powers to transform Cinderella Castle into an ice palace every night beginning in November.

Anna, Elsa, Krsitoff, and Olaf will also be part of Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade.

And, Elsa and Anna will also be continuing their Frozen sing-along at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Wandering Oaken’s will be moved closer to the show so guests can continue to play in the snow throughout the holiday season.

While there is no official word yet from Disney, several reports are stating that the last day for Maelstrom is October 5 with the official closing on October 6. The new Frozen attraction will reportedly open in 2016.
