Mark Romanek No Longer Directing Disney’s ‘Cinderella’

Sources have announced that Mark Romanek and Disney will no longer be working together on the studio’s live-action remake of Cinderella.

According to media reports, Disney and Romanek were at odds over the way the story should be told. Romanek’s version is too dark for the fairy-tale ending the studio wants, but according to Disney they are parting ways on good terms.

In a statement, Walt Disney Studios said:

The Walt Disney Studios and Mark Romanek have parted ways on Disney’s Cinderella project. We are committed to moving the project forward and have begun the search for a new director. The team here at Disney respects Mark as both a director and a friend, and we hope to find something to work on together in the future.

They are currently looking for a new director to helm the project in order to remain on track for production to begin this summer.
