New Race, Challenge, and Medal Announced for Princess Half Marathon Weekend

Are you planning to run next year’s Princess Half Marathon in Walt Disney World? Now, there is even more of an incentive to take part in the annual half marathon weekend than ever before, as runDisney announced this week that they have added a new race, challenge, and medal to the popular athletic event.

As in past years, next year’s Princess Half Marathon Weekend, which will take place from Feb. 20-23, will include both a half marathon and a 5K. However, the upcoming weekend will also give runners a new additonal event to participate in, as runDisney has added a Princess 10K. Runners who want an added challenge can participate in the Disney Glass Slipper Challenge by running both the 10K on Saturday and the half marathon on Sunday. Those who complete both races will earn an inaugural medal for the challenge, in addition to the individual medals for each event.

However, the Princess Half Marathon is not the only women-focused running event held by runDisney. Each year, Disneyland has its own Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend, and in 2014, Disney will be offering a new incentive for runners who take part in both events. While runDisney typically offers a Coast-to-Coast medal for runners who take part in running events on both coasts during the same year, 2014 will bring a new, exclusive, medal for runners taking part in the two women-focused events. Runners who take part in the  2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon in January and the 2014 Princess Half Marathon five weeks later in February will earn a new Coast-to-Coast Race Challenge Medal, which features Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse with a pink overlay and lanyard.

Registration for the 2014 Princess Half Marathon Weekend will begin at www.runDisney.com on June 11. A limited number of runners will be able to register for both Princess Half Marathon Weekend and the Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend at that time; however, registration for the Tinker Bell Half Marathon will officially begin on July 9.
