New Ride, Shops and Restaurants Will Revamp Disney California Adventure’s Paradise Pier this Summer

The renovation and expansion of Disney California Adventure is still underway, and Goofy’s Sky School, several new restaurants and a unique souvenir shop will complete the Paradise Pier transformation Summer 2011. Another new ride, The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Undersea Adventure, will also debut this summer on June 3.

Goofy’s Sky School, which takes the spot of the former Mulholland Madness coaster, will take visitors through flying lessons conducted by Goofy himself. Guests will soar through the clouds on over 1200 feet of track, enjoying the lovable and often zany antics of Goofy. The new coaster will feature cars that hold up to 4 riders per vehicle, and guests must be at least 42 inches tall to ride. The story behind the ride chronicles Goofy’s attempt to be an egg farmer on his California farmland. When that failed, he decided to launch a flight academy for novice pilots.

For hungry visitors, several new restaurants are being added to Paradise Pier, including Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta and Paradise Garden Grill. These new quick service locations will offer plenty of delicious options, including pastas, flatbread pizzas, and salads at Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta, and healthy kabobs, skewers, Greek salads and kids selections at Paradise Garden Grill. Vegetarian options will also be available at both eateries.

Bayside Brews, another food kiosk opening July 1, will offer delicious pretzels and six different brews on tap for guests 21 years of age or older. Additionally, Corn Dog Castle, a favorite quick-service kiosk, will return and offer original corn dogs and hot link varieties. A meatless option, deep fried cheese on a stick, will also be available.

Finally, a brand-new souvenir shop dubbed Seaside Souvenirs (formerly known as Souvenir 66) will feature The Little Mermaid themed merchandise, as well as general sundries and souvenirs. The shop will be decorated in the nautical-themed decor of curio shops in seaside towns from years past, and will be a wonderful spot to pick up a special memento to commemorate your visit.
