New ‘Toy Story’ Short ‘Small Fry’ to Make Its Debut with ‘The Muppets’

It’s no secret that we’re getting pretty excited about the debut of The Muppets in theaters just a few months from now, but fans of Disney/Pixar and Toy Story now have a new reason to look forward to the film’s premiere as well. It was announced at the D23 Expo last weekend that a brand-new Toy Story short film, entitled Small Fry, will be shown along with screenings of The Muppets in theaters.

The new short will be directed by Angus MacLane, and comes soon after the debut of the first “Toy Story Toon” Hawaiian Vacation, which premiered along with Cars 2 in theaters earlier this summer. Here’s a plot synopsis of the brand-new short, via the Huffington Post and blogger Jim Hill:

“In short, Bonnie, the girl to whom Andy gave his toys at the end of “Toy Story 3,” leaves Buzz Lightyear at a fast food restaurant, taking instead a kids’ meal toy version of Buzz. He must find his way back home; in the process, he stumbles upon a support group for lost kids’ meal toys, led by a mermaid warrior who is voiced by Jane Lynch.”

While we’re still waiting on news of whether or not Toy Story 4 is in the works, it will definitely be nice to catch up with Buzz and Woody on the big screen when we head to see The Muppets this fall. Be sure to check it out in theaters beginning November 23!
