“The Magic, The Memories, and You!” Gets New Summer Update in Disneyland and Magic Kingdom

Since early last year, Walt Disney World and Disneyland guests have been able to enjoy the fantastic new show “The Magic, The Memories, and You!”. This nightly show, which is projected onto Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom and “it’s a small world” at Disneyland, uses high-tech projections to create a variety of wondrous scenes and images, while also showcasing pictures of park guests that were taken that day through Disney’s PhotoPass service. Throughout the year, the spectacle has received some seasonal updates, and this weekend brought a brand-new update to this enchanting show, as new scenes were added to celebrate the arrival of summer.

About the work that went into this spectacular show, Disneyland Resort Creative Director Alan Bruun says:

“Producers storyboarded the show as if it were a short animated film. They weaved music, story, photography, video and animation into a new kind of nighttime entertainment.”

The new sequence, which officially began on May 25, includes such new scenes as an ancient, vine-covered ruin, the transformation of the Castle and “it’s a small world” into sandcastles, and even a part in which the buildings appear to have been finger-painted in the style of artist Peter Max. In addition, guests can look forward to some of their favorite Disney characters in the new sequence, including Phineas and Ferb, Goofy water-skiing and surfing, Timon and Pumbaa singing “Hakuna Matata,” and even the “hot crustacean band” from The Little Mermaid.

This new segment will be interwoven in with some of the popular scenes that have been a part of the show since its inception. Additionally, the “Romance”-themed enhancements to the show, which were added in February, will continue to be a part of the spectacle in this new update. No ending date has been given yet to this special summer version of the show.
