This Week in Disney News – ‘Star Wars’ Trailer, Great Movie Ride Update, and Spring Training

star wars force awakesThis past week was a week full of exciting Disney news, including a really cool (albeit brief) sneak peek at the new Star Wars film.

Early in the week news broke about a new strategic partnership between the Turner Classic Movies channel and The Walt Disney Company. This new partnership is good news for fans of both the Great Movie Ride at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and those who love classic Disney films and television shows.

Turner Classic Movies is handling the “TCM-curated” refresh of the Great Movie Ride including an all-new film during the queue, new posters and signage for the ride, and an all-new final sequence for the attraction. These changes should be completed in the spring of 2015.

In exchange, Disney will provide TCM with classic television shows, special, and films for the ‘Treasures from the Disney Vault’ specials that will air periodically on the network. The first such special airs December 22.

The other big news happened Friday morning when Disney released the 88-second teaser trailer for Star Wars – The Force Awakens. The trailer can be viewed on iTunes and YouTube and fans of the Star Wars films have been dissecting what it all means since the trailer debuted.

In other Disney news, Disney Golf is hosting several junior golf camps during the month of December. The camps are scheduled for December 22, 23, 29, and 30 at Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course. You can find more info and register for the camps at www.wdwgolf.com.

Just in time for holiday shopping, Beautifully Disney has released the Frozen collection. The collection includes eye shadows, lipsticks,and nail polishes with the Frozen sparkle.
