Three-time Olympian Kim Smith Wins the 2014 Disney Princess Half Marathon

princess half winner 2014Three-time Olympian Kim Smith won the 2014 Disney Princess Half Marathon on February 23, and also set a new course record.

Smith crossed the finish line in 1:11:49, nearly 15 minutes before any other runner, and breaking the previous course record of 1:17:38 – set last year – by six minutes.

Smith is a native of New Zealand and is also an elite runner with New Balance. She said the highlight of Sunday’s race was the chance to run through the Disney parks.

There were 24,000 runners who participated in Sunday’s Princess Half Marathon, and 40,000 runners total participated in the various races held during the weekend.

This year marked the inaugural year for the Glass Slipper Challenge. Runners in the challenge had to finish the Princess Enchanted 10K and the Princess Half Marathon for a total of 19.3 miles.
