Compass Book Store & Cafe Readying for Closure at Downtown Disney

Compass Book Store & Cafe are preparing to  leave Downtown Disney at Disneyland, making room for Disney’s new vision for the entertainment-shopping district.

The store will officially close its doors March 31, and has discounted their merchandise 30-50% until the closing. Michael Tucker, president of Books, Inc., says that the closure of Compass Book Store was a mutual decision between the company and Disney. Earl of Sandwich will be opening this summer in the spot currently occupied by Compass Book Store.

He also says:

In the long term, it made sense. They are going to have food and beverage there and they have a large calling for that. We’re sorry to lose the book store.

The store has been part of Downtown Disney since 2001.
