D23 Expo First Look: Disney Reveals Detailed Concept Art for Shanghai Disneyland Storybook Castle

20 August 2011 No Comment

We’re getting our first look today of new, highly detailed concept art for Shanghai Disneyland, and it’s stunning.

Shanghai Disneyland, Disney’s sixth themepark resort and its third in Asia, will have a castle at its center like other Disney parks.  However, unlike the other parks, Shanghai Disneyland’s castle will not be named for a single princess; instead, it will represent all of the princesses in the Disney royal court.

The Enchanted Storybook Castle is slated to be the largest of the Disney castles, as well as the most interactive.  Within the landmark, guests will explore the structure’s multiple stories.  In addition, inside the castle will be a princess meet and greet experience, a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique salon featuring makeovers for the junior set, Once Upon a Time Adventure, described as a “large scale, walkthrough experience.”  Finally, and for the first time ever, the castle will also be part of a boat ride attraction, which will be one of Fantasyland’s larger rides.

Here are a few pictures, courtesy of Disney, to give you an idea of the what the castle will look like.  The video below provides terrific detail of the structures’ various levels.
