disney channel logoDisney Channel is developing a new Original Movie Throw Like Mo that will tell the story of Mo’Ne Davis, the 13-year-odl who was the first female to pitch a shutout in the Little League World Series.

Davis plays for Philadelphia’s Taney Dragons and was the first Little League player on the cover of Sports Illustrated. She’ll also serve as a consultant on the movie.

Throw Like Mo was written by Sheldon Candis and Justin Wilson, and will executive produced by Debra Martin Chase (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and Lemonade Mouth).

“Mo’ne is not only a top-notch athlete in three different sports – baseball, basketball and soccer – but she is an exemplary student and someone who will remind our audiences that they can do anything with hard work, dedication and belief in themselves,” said Naketha Mattocks, Vice President, Original Movies, Disney Channel. “We know her story will inspire audiences regardless of their age, culture or gender, and I am thrilled to have Debra, Sheldon and Justin leading the charge to bring this movie to life.”

There is no word on when the movie will air on Disney Channel.
