Disney VoluntEARS Bring Spirit of Thanksgiving to Coalition for the Homeless

Every month, Disney VoluntEARS donate personal time to help feed the hungry of Central Florida, and Thanksgiving is no exception.  Chef de Cuisine Leonard Thomson of Epcot Catering and a willing band of Disney VoluntEARS are spending several hours this week preparing a veritable feast to share with the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida.

VoluntEARS are preparing meals for more than 700 people who will spend the holiday at the Coalition, including families with small children.

Preparations for the feast, which includes all the traditional holiday favorites like roasted turkey and cornbread stuffing, but also extras such as braised beef tips, four-cheese baked pasta, and yummy desserts like pumpkin cheesecake, will take two days to complete, and will be ready to serve Thursday evening.

Chef-prepared meals are only one way that Disney supports the coalition, which provides shelter and food to nearly 650 people each night.  More than a shelter, the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida’s mission is to address the needs of the homeless in the Central Florida community and to serve as a catalyst for community collaboration to end homelessness.
