23 July 2010 No Comment

Fans at this year’s Comic Con were treated to some unexpected news. Directing powerhouse Guillermo del Toro announced that he would be directing a new take on the famous Disneyland ride.

Known for his work in films like Pan’s Labyrinth and Hellboy. del Toro boasts a pedigree in amazing special effects. In this regard he makes an excellent pairing both with Disney and with one of their oldest and most beloved rides.

From the Disney Parks Blog:

Rich Ross, Chairman of The Walt Disney Studios, remarked “Millions of people from around the world visit The Haunted Mansion each year, but no one has ever had a tour guide like Guillermo del Toro. Guillermo is one of the most gifted and innovative filmmakers working today and he is going to take audiences on a visually-thrilling journey like they’ve never experienced before.”

The pedigree of the director suggests that this is a more promising version than the previous one starring Eddie Murphy.
