Jeff Nathanson to Pen ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 5′

14 January 2013 No Comment

Disney has hired Catch Me If You Can screenwriter Jeff Nathanson to pen the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean film, sources are reporting.

While Johnny Depp has not officially signed on to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow, the Mouse House is optimistic that he will return, as he has said in the past he will always return to the franchise if the material remains good.

Jerry Bruckheimer will produce the fifth installment. As of this writing, it is unclear who else is set to reprise their roles – or if familiar faces from past Pirates films will make an appearance.

Disney is also keeping plot details tightly under wraps at this point, but we will let you know more when that information becomes available.
