More Kids Can Ride Disney Dream’s Aqua Duck, Thanks to Lower Height Requirements

It just became a little easier to ride Aqua Duck if you’re a kid.
Previously, Disney Cruise Line required that all riders of its water roller coaster, which made its debut on the recently christened Disney Dream, be 48 inches or taller.  As of last Thursday, however, the height requirement has been lowered to 42 inches.  But riding solo?  You have to measure in at 54 inches tall and be at least seven to have the inner tube all to yourself.
The restrictions, which are still being fine-tuned, seem to have more …

With Dream Successfully Launched, Disney Attention Turns to Fantasy

We’ve all watched every moment, every movement, every development of Disney’s newest ship, the Dream.  But as she successfully embarks on her Caribbean itinerary, it’s time to turn our attention to her younger sister:  the Fantasy.
The Disney Fantasy is being built in Germany, by the same storied shipbuilder that produced the Dream.  And today, she’ll mark a milestone of her own, as Disney and Meyer Werft conduct the traditional keel-laying ceremony.
The Disney Fantasy will be a sister ship to the Dream, and as such, will be quite similar.  Both ships will accomadate …

‘Magic on the Water’ Exhibit Opens at Disneyland Tomorrow Morning

Guests to Disneyland will get the first chance to see a brand new exhibit tomorrow morning, as Magic on the Water:  The Art of the “Happiest Fleet on Earth” opens with the park at The Disney Gallery.
Since Disneyland was little more than a gleam in Walt Disney’s eye, water – and ways to convey guests on the water – have played a central role in transporting and entertaining guests.  Today, visitors to Disney’s various parks have the opportunity to float through wild jungle landscapes, beneath polar icecaps, across magical lagoons …

Reports of Disney Dream ‘Near Collision’ Appear to Be Exaggerated

Video of the Disney Dream maneuvering close to a Royal Caribbean ship in Port Canaveral has surfaced today, along with reports of the incident.  However, claims that Disney’s new ship came dangerously close to the other vessel appear to be exaggerated.
The video, shot by a passenger of Royal Caribbean’s Monarch of the Seas, shows the Disney Dream maneuvering near the other ship, the water clearly churning below by the power of the Disney ship’s engines.  The video was apparently shot on January 17 during a muster drill on the Royal Caribbean ship, …

Disney Conjures an Oceanview in Every Room on the Disney Dream

Out of all the amazing, state of the art, cutting edge technology that we’ve seen displayed on the Disney Dream this week, this has GOT to be my absolute favorite feature.  Maybe it’s because I’ve had the, um, pleasure of an inside stateroom.
Only Disney could figure out how to get an ocean view into every room on the ship – even the inside ones.  Behold:  virtual portholes!  And they are not just virtual portholes.  They are magical portholes.  What’s so magical about them?  Well, I’m glad you asked.
The portholes show …

Star Sightings: Stars Come Out to Play on the Disney Dream

When the Disney Dream set sail on her christening cruise, heading for the warmer, sunny shores of Castaway Cay this week, there were hundreds of media personalities from all over the globe on board, all sending their stories back to their waiting audiences, who were looking for the first glimpse of an Aqua Duck adventure, the first taste of Remy, the first merchandise from the shops.  But also on board were some stars, who were as busy taking in the sights, tastes, and sounds of the new ship as the …

Jennifer Hudson Welcomed as Disney Dream’s Godmother in Lavish Christening Ceremony

They asked the Fairy Godmother to conjure a godmother for the Disney Dream…and bibbidi…bobbidi…boo!  Jennifer Hudson appeared!
The Oscar-winning singer and actress was, in a way, coming home, when she appeared as the newly-hailed godmother of Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship.  After all, before we knew her from “Dream Girls,” or “Sex in the City,” or even TV’s “American Idol,” she was known to passengers sailing on the Dream’s sister ship, the Wonder, where Hudson began her career in 2003.  From Disney performer to Academy Award-winning actress and Grammy award-winning singer …
