The Walt Disney World Resort is celebrating the Fourth of July with special fireworks, entertainment, and more.
The Magic Kingdom is lighting up the night on July 3 and 4 with ‘Disney’s Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky.’ The nighttime fireworks show takes place at 9 p.m. both nights.

A year ago today 2-year-old Lane Graves was killed by an alligator at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. Yesterday Disney announced plans to erect a lighthouse sculpture in his honor later this year.
The lighthouse – a symbol of the Lane Thomas Foundation – will be placed at an undisclosed location at the Walt Disney World Resort.

The metal detectors that are currently located just outside the gates for the Magic Kingdom are on the move.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, the metal detectors will be located at the Transportation and Ticket Center beginning next Monday.
Guests who drive to the Magic Kingdom and arrive at the TTC will go through the metal detectors prior to boarding the Monorail or ferry boat.

The holiday season is quickly approaching and now is a great time to make your New Year’s Eve plans at the Walt Disney World Resort.
Several resorts are offering special New Year’s Eve dining events in addition to special events at some of the Disney World theme parks.
California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort has a New Year’s Eve dine-around gala event with cooking stations, Disney characters, and even an appearance by Baby New Year. This dinner takes place at 7:30 p.m. on December 31 and is $650 per person.

The Garden View Tea Room at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa is transforming each evening into the Garden View Champagne and Wine Lounge. Guests can enjoy champagne, wines, and small plates each night from 7-10 p.m.
Club Villain at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is sticking around through at least January. Guests can make reservations for the popular event on Fridays and Saturdays in November and December, and Friday nights in January.

In the wake of the fatal alligator attack earlier this summer at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, Disney is now building a boulder wall around the shore of the Seven Seas Lagoon.
Two-year old Lane Graves was killed by an alligator as he waded on the shores of the man-made lagoon in June.
Immediately following the attack Disney erected rope fences and alligator warning signs around the Seven Seas Lagoon, Bay Lake, and other bodies of water around the resort.

A two-year-old Nebraska boy is presumed dead after being dragged into the Seven Seas Lagoon at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa Tuesday night.
The boy was reportedly playing in the water when the alligator – thought to be between 4 and 7 feet long – snatched him, dragging him into the lagoon.
According to officials, the boy’s parents entered the water and tried to wrestle the boy away from the gator.
Around 12:30 p.m. ET today officials said the gator attack was not survivable and the rescue mission was now a “recovery” …
