The Week in Disney News: Hurricane Irma Impacts on Disney World, Holiday Events Announced, and More

Happy Sunday! We’re back with another recap of the week’s biggest Disney news stories!
Last Sunday Hurricane Irma meant the closure of the Walt Disney World Resort for two days. The theme parks reopened on September 12 with mostly minimal damage.
The Walt Disney Company announced a $2.5 million donation to the relief efforts following Hurricane Irma.

Comedy Warehouse Holiday Special Returns to Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Get ready for some holiday laughs at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The Comedy Warehouse Holiday Special is returning to Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the fifth year.
The show – a family friendly improvisational comedy show – will return to the Premiere Theater on December 19 and will be performed through January 1. The Comedy Warehouse Holiday Special is included in park admission.
Every show is different since the shows are based on suggestions from the audience to invent festive poems, holiday scenarios, songs, and stories.

Guests visiting the Walt Disney World Resort can get in the holiday spirit during the Holidays at Disney Springs.
Each of the neighborhoods in Disney Springs has been decorated for the season with décor themed to its role in the “town.”

Now that we’ve all stuffed ourselves with turkey and all the trimming it’s time to deck the halls for the holidays!

New Disney Gift Card Holiday Pin Series Launches at Disney Parks

Just in time for holiday shopping this year’s Disney Gift Card Holiday Pin Series has arrived at the Disney Parks.
The gift cards feature four different designs with Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Pluto and each card costs $75.
The gift cards each come with a Disney Trading Pin and this year’s pins are shaped like gift boxes that were designed to reflect something iconic about the characters. The trading pins are only available with the gift cards.

Ring in 2016 with Special Events and More at the Walt Disney World Resort

If you’re making plans to ring in the New Year at the Walt Disney World Resort you’re in luck! Disney recently announced the lineup for special events and dining for the holiday.
At Epcot guests can enjoy DJs and live music in World Showcase in addition to two holiday showings of IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth at 6 and 11:40 p.m. Both shows will feature a countdown and “pyrotechnic salute” to the New Year.

Reservations Open for The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights Special Events

This holiday season marks the end of The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The fan-favorite holiday light display has been at the park for 20 years but is ending this year to make way for two new lands – Toy Story Land and Star Wars Land.
As part of its last holiday season guests can enjoy two special events at the Lights – a Merry & Bright Dessert Party and a Merry & Bright Dinner Reception.
