Disney Will No Longer Issue Paper Stock Certificates to Shareholders

Beginning next week, Disney’s paper stock certificates will be a thing of the past.
The Walt Disney Company has announced that it will stop issuing paper stock certificates to shareholders as of October 16.
The company’s stock certificates feature images of iconic Disney characters including Mickey Mouse, Tinker Bell, and Dumbo, and are a collector’s item for anyone who happens to love all things Disney.

2013 Disney Legend Award Honorees Announced – Ceremony to Take Place at D23 Expo in August

Next month at the D23 Expo, eight individuals will be honored for their contributions to the Disney legacy when they are named Disney Legends, bringing the total number of Disney Legends to 237.
The 2013 Disney Legend Award honorees are Tony Baxter, Collin Campbell, Dick Clark, Billy Crystal, John Goodman, Steve Jobs, Glen Keane, and Ed Wynn.

No Representative of Jobs Estate Will Serve on Disney Board

Sources have reported that no representative for the estate of the late Steve Jobs will serve on the Walt Disney Company’s board of directors.
Despite the fact that the estate is Disney’s largest shareholder, with 7.7 percent of the company’s common stock, papers filed by Disney last Friday say that no one will be serving on the board on Jobs’ behalf. His widow is not a candidate, nor are any other representatives of the estate. As of this writing, no word has been heard from Disney about this news.

Disney CEO Bob Iger Joins Apple’s Board

On Monday, it was announced that President and CEO of The Walt Disney Company Robert A. Iger would be taking on a role as a member of the board of Apple, Inc. Arthur D. Levinson also became Apple’s new chairman, succeeding Steve Jobs, who passed in October.
In a statement, Levison said he was “honored to be named chairman of Apple’s board” and welcomed Bob Iger to the team.

Steve Jobs Re-Elected to Disney Board

Despite the opinions of the advisory firm Glass Lewis & Co., Disney shareholders re-elected Steve Jobs to the board on Wednesday – even though he has missed about 75% of the meetings last year.
Jobs’ absences from most of the meetings are allegedly due to an illness that also had him take a leave of absence as CEO of Apple.
Even though the advisory firm recommended Jobs not be re-elected, the Disney shareholders reinstated him at their annual meeting in Salt Lake City, as well as re-electing the company’s 12 other nominees.
