Tangeroa Terrace and Trader Sam’s to Open in Disneyland Hotel May 25

Artist's Rendering, Trader Sam's - Enchanted Tiki Bar

Like a warm breeze blowing in from the Polynesian Islands, two new restaurants are coming to the Disneyland Hotel before the end of May.

Tangeroa Terrace – Casual Island Dining will feature breakfast, lunch, and dinner, in laid-back, island style.  The decor and ambiance will send you straight to the South Pacific, as tiki torches burn overhead, and soft island music fills the space.

Menu items will be tropically-inspired, ranging from french toast topped with warm banana-caramel sauce for breakfast, to lunch of Kalua pulled pork flatbreads and Angus Hawaiian cheeseburgers, to dinner of mouth-watering miso-crusted salmon.  Here’s your chance also to try fun – and hot – side dishes, like green papaya slaw.  Our favorite “want-to” so far?  Tamarind glazed pork shanks.  Mmmm.  Oh – and don’t forget dessert:  enjoy a “just right”-sized portion of the dessert flight, which is meant to be shared.  Tasty offerings will include classic pineapple upside-down cake, layered passion fruit with pineapple coconut creme, and chocolate coffee cake.

Would you rather have drinks and something tasty to nosh on?  Trader Sam’s – Enchanted Tiki Bar will open the same day right next door to Tangeroa Terrace.  This place will be F-U-N:  decorated in vintage island style, potent concoctions will be served in fun glassware – think home movies at that luau your grandparents once hosted in the backyard –  that evokes all that we love about the Enchanted Tiki Room!  And the drinks!  How about a Krakatoa Punch, featuring two kinds of rum and exotic juices?  Or maybe an Uh Oa! is more to your liking, with two other kinds of rum, and several other tropical juices?  (We might finally have the answer to that eternal question:  “Why’s the rum always gone?”)  But if you are the designated driver, give the Schweitzer Falls a try – with tropical juices and allspice syrup, it sounds like a winner.

And don’t forget the snacks.  With bar fare sturdy enough to make a meal and inspired by the islands, guests can enjoy such offerings as sweet and spicy Asian wings, Chinese long beans with Sriracha mayonnaise, and even ahi-poke– a cold dish featuring sushi-grade tuna, and garnished with avocado, green onion, and crispy wontons.

If you can’t get to Hawaii this year, give Tangeroa Terrace and Trader Sam’s a try.  From the sounds of it, you’ll hardly miss a beat.
